- Dates carry as much weight as numbers do. A certificate from two years back describes a batch nobody is selling anymore, which makes it decoration rather than evidence.
- Independent labs carry the standing that in-house testing cannot, for reasons anyone can work out in about three seconds. Full panels covering solvents, heavy metals, terpenes, and cannabinoids tell a complete story where a lone potency figure tells almost none of one.
Sorting decent preparations from mediocre ones takes more reading than most buyers want to do. Extraction route, infusion temperature, and a lab panel dated within the past few months. None of that shows up in flavour descriptions, which is the point of checking.
